Miami Art Week | Art Basel Miami Guide

I hadn’t been to South Beach since Spring Break of undergrad, and Art Basel Miami marked my grand return. Maybe not that grand, considering the most prominent memory from this trip was that I ended each night quite hungry because I hadn’t made time to eat in my push to cover as many events as possible. And the traffic made for less time than anticipated. Yet, overall I had an amazing time discovering artists and connecting with other New Yorkers who’d flown in for the festivities.
During Miami Art Week, the big draw is Art Basel at the Convention Center, but their are satellite fairs including NADA, Design Miami, Pinta, Red Dot, and Pulse. There’s also museum’s with new exhibits and art week events—Rubell Museum, the Bass, and Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM).
I attended the Cocktails & Curators event at the PAMM, hosted by Dapper Dan. In Little Haiti, I went to the Rubell Museum. Just before the Patricia Field fashion show, I explored a bit of the Wynwood Walls. Early mornings, I made time for some sea and sand—I purchased day passes for The Grand Hotel and The Confidante. If you must chose one, go for The Confidante; the staff was so friendly and the cocktails are perfection.
